Since inception as the Goldman Sachs Reinsurance Group in 2004, we have patiently and thoughtfully built a leading retirement and life insurance company. KKR initially acquired majority ownership of Global Atlantic in 2021 and later increased its ownership stake to 100% in 2024. Today Global Atlantic is a wholly-owned subsidiary of KKR, operating as a standalone insurance business. We have achieved our success through strategic acquisitions and a focus on growth by delivering clear value for our distribution partners and customers.

Inception as Goldman Sachs Reinsurance Group

2005

Acquires Allmerica Life, renames it Commonwealth Annuity and Life

2009

Acquires First Allmerica Financial Life Insurance Company

2011

Starts selling annuities through Commonwealth

2013

Separates from Goldman Sachs and incorporates as Global Atlantic Financial Group Limited. Acquires AVIVA USA life insurance business line and renamed Accordia Life

2014

Acquires Forethought Life Insurance Company: includes preneed business and annuity businesses built on capabilities acquired from The Hartford

2016

All products and services branded Global Atlantic

2021

Global Atlantic becomes a majority-owned subsidiary of the KKR public company

2024

KKR increases ownership stake to 100%, Global Atlantic becomes a wholly-owned subsidiary
